The 55th International Symposium on Forest Mechanization (FORMEC) and the 7th Forest Engineering Conference (FEC) will be hosted in Florence, Italy, from September 20 to 22, by the University of Firenze and the National Council for Research (CNR), in collaboration with Regione Toscana and the Italian Academy of Forest Science.
The topic of the meeting is Improving access to sustainable forest materials in a resource-constrained world. The meeting will represent a great opportunity for getting updated about the latest developments in forest engineering, for meeting colleagues and for developing one’s network. All stakeholders in the field of forest engineering are invited to join and share their experiences in a pleasant setting and a friendly environment.
Scientists, consultants, industry experts, practitioners, government officials and students will attend and contribute to the conference sharing their knowledge and experience.

The schedule of the FORMEC/FEC 2023 symposium starts with an Icebreaker on Tuesday 19 evening, followed by a field trip on Wednesday 20 and closes with two intensive conference days on Thursday and Friday.

Wednesday 20 September 2023 - Participants will be picked up in Florence by charter buses and taken to Pistoia and its surroundings. Departure will be around 08:00 and return is planned for 17:30 (arrival in Florence).
Thursday 21 September 2023, Prof. em. Dr. Hans Rudolf Heinimann and Prof. Dr. Gerald Steinbauer-Wagner will present a keynote session during the opening session.
