The main goals of FORMEC are:
- Combining experience from worldwide scientists, researchers and practitioners in forest operations and planning on close-to-nature principles.
- Encourage cooperation, gather knowledge and improve exchange of information in forestry profession and science.
The core issues in the FORMEC Symposia are:
- Forest harvesting systems
- Wood transportation
- Forest road network planning and construction
- Environmental effects of forest operations
- Forest work sciences
The papers submitted to the Symposium are evaluated by a Referee Committee and the proceedings are published. The organization of the FORMEC Symposium is managed by a chairman who leads an organizing committee, which includes host country representatives.
