The main goals of FORMEC are:

  1. Combining experience from worldwide scientists, researchers and practitioners in forest operations and planning on close-to-nature principles.
  2. Encourage cooperation, gather knowledge and improve exchange of information in forestry profession and science.

The core issues in the FORMEC Symposia are:

  • Forest harvesting systems
  • Wood transportation
  • Forest road network planning and construction
  • Environmental effects of forest operations
  • Forest work sciences

The papers submitted to the Symposium are evaluated by a Referee Committee and the proceedings are published. The organization of the FORMEC Symposium is managed by a chairman who leads an organizing committee, which includes host country representatives.
