Support released
The National Union for Scientific Innovation in Forestry (UNIF) is an Italian non-profit organization established for the task of promoting scientific research of particular social and environmental interest and of promoting undergraduate and postgraduate training.
UNIF has joined forces with the former organizers of FORMEC 2023, and namely: the Italian Academy of Forestry Sciences (AISF), the DAGRI of the University of Florence and the National Research Council (CNR) in order to support 20 deserveful scholars who will give a presentation at the FORMEC Conference to be held in Gdansk, Poland from 11 to 14 June 2024.
Support will consist in a contribution towards scholar participation cost, up to a maximum of EUR 500. Such support is intended to partially cover registration, travel, board and lodging expenses.
Who can apply
All scholars with an accepted abstract by the FORMEC 2024 Scientific Committee.
Evaluation procedure
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
- Current position: all scholars, tenured and non-tenured, as long as they are in some way affiliated with an institution or company involved in forestry. However, priority will be given to PhD students and young people to encourage peer networking, exchange with the academic community and professional development.
- Resources: priority will be given to applicants who have no or little access to resources/funding to attend the FORMEC conference.
- Country: priority will be given to countries under-represented on the basis of submitted abstracts.
- Gender: priority will be given to female scholars
- CV: consideration will be given to the candidate's CV and the consistence of their studies and professional experience with the conference theme and, more generally, with the forest engineering community.
- Motivational letters will be considered.
Compulsory requirements
An accepted abstract is essential to apply for UNIF support; failure to do so will be ground for exclusion.

- A brief curriculum vitae and a photocopy of a valid document must be attached to the application.

The call is now open and the deadline for submitting an application is 31 March 2024 at 23:59 CET.

Results of the evaluation procedure
Candidates will be informed about the results of the evaluation procedure on 15 April.
Payments
Those admitted to UNIF support will have to submit, at the end of the conference, a request for reimbursement complete with:
- a list of the expenses incurred and for which they claim reimbursement
- copies of the documents certifying those expenses (e.g. receipt of payment for registration to the congress, travel documents, hotel and restaurant bills etc.)
- copy of the certificate of attendance
Accepted reimbursements will be paid by bank transfer to the bank account indicated by the applicant.
