If you are presenting innovative and impactful research on any topic related to AI, Digitalization, or Automation in wood and biomass supply chains at the FORMEC 2025 Conference, consider enhancing your contribution by submitting your work to the upcoming Article collection, titled "FORMEC 2025: Leveraging Technology for More Sustainable Wood and Biomass Supply Chains."
An article collection is a dynamic and flexible way to showcase high-quality research on a specific theme or emerging area of interest. It allows for a continuous influx of relevant research, as contributions remain open over time. Manuscripts submitted to an article collection undergo rigorous peer review and are published individually upon acceptance, ensuring rapid dissemination and visibility for authors.
Unlike traditional special issues, which often follow a fixed editorial framework and publish all articles together, article collections provide greater flexibility, continuous engagement, and faster impact within the scientific community. This format encourages ongoing contributions and ensures that new research remains timely and accessible.
This article collection will be guest-edited by Prof. Mauricio Acuna (Luke, Finland) and Prof. Ola Lindroos (SLU, Sweden). Manuscripts submitted by the deadline, September 30, 2025, will be considered for inclusion in this issue. All submissions will undergo IJFE’s standard peer-review process to ensure high-quality publications.
Please find below a brief summary of the submission and publishing rules for the IJFE (For more details, see IJFE / Instructions for Authors):
- Articles will be published online immediately after completing the peer-review process and reaching their final form.
- IJFE is a hybrid journal, allowing authors to submit their work free of charge. For this article collection, we are offering six months of free access (temporary Open Access) to the first 10 accepted manuscripts. Alternatively, authors can choose full Open Access, with the Article Processing Charge (APC) varying by country. More details can be found here: Open access cost finder - Author Services. IJFE follows a strict openness policy, including research data and computer codes. Authors are required to provide a data availability statement (DAS), detailing where data associated with a paper can be found and how it can be accessed. The DAS should be submitted within the article manuscript, before the ‘References’ section. If data cannot be made open, authors should state why in the data availability statement. You can find more information here: Open and FAIR data sharing policy - Author Services
